EWWS Final Event 2026 in Madrid

The European Week of Winter Sport (EWWS) officially concluded with its Final Event held on 24 April 2026 in Madrid, Spain, hosted at the headquarters of the Consejo Superior de Deportes. The gathering marked the closing milestone of a year-long European initiative dedicated to promoting winter sport participation, inclusion, and cross-border collaboration.

Partners and stakeholders from across Europe came together to reflect on the achievements of the 2026 edition, share strategic insights, and reinforce a shared commitment to making sport more accessible and inclusive for all citizens.

A European collaboration for winter sport development

The closing event welcomed representatives from a broad network of institutions, organizations, educational centres, municipalities, and sports facilities, including the Comité Olímpico Español, the FEEC, España se Mueve, as well as regional and local authorities such as the Diputación de León, the Ayuntamiento de Granada, and the Ayuntamiento de Jaca.

Emergency and civil protection services were also represented, including Protección Civil de León, alongside educational partners such as Colegio Maristas Chamberí, Colegio El Catón, and Colegio Arcipreste de Hita, as well as Salesianos Cruces.

The event also brought together representatives from winter sport destinations and facilities, including Estación de Esquí de Sierra Nevada, Estación de Esquí de San Isidro, and Rasos de Peguera, reinforcing the strong link between sport development and local territories.

Reflection, impact, and future vision

Throughout the event, participants engaged in strategic discussions focused on the outcomes of EWWS 2026, highlighting the importance of collaboration between institutions, schools, sports organizations, and public authorities.

Numerous key achievements of the initiative were presented, alongside testimonials from partners who contributed to its implementation. Discussions emphasized the value of long-term cooperation and the need to continue building sustainable frameworks for winter sport participation across Europe.
