The European Week of Winter Sports (EWWS) is collaborating with the ISMF Skimo World Cup 2026, which will take place in Boí Taüll (Spain) from January 30 to February 1, reinforcing its commitment to promoting sustainability in winter sports events.
The Kilian Jornet Foundation (KJF), strategic coordinator of the EWWS in Spain, is working closely with the event organizers to support the integration of sustainability practices into the competition. In this context, and in collaboration with TrueWorld, the organizers are calculating the CO₂ emissions of the event and compensating its carbon footprint, with a special focus on mobility and transportation.
To support this process, the KJF is developing a short explanatory video about the EWWS, which will be shared during the event together with a QR code. This QR will invite participants and spectators to complete a form that allows the organizers to estimate CO₂ emissions associated with transportation, contributing to a more accurate emissions calculation and greater awareness among attendees.
Boí Taüll once again hosts the Sprint and Mixed Relay races of the ISMF World Cup circuit, consolidating its position as a reference venue for ski mountaineering. The event will also be qualifying for the Milano-Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games, where ski mountaineering will make its Olympic debut.
Several top Spanish athletes will be competing at home, including Oriol Cardona, Ana Alonso, Íñigo Martínez, Marta García, Ot Ferrer and Laia Sellés, making the weekend a key moment for both sport and sustainability in winter mountain environments.
Through this collaboration, the EWWS continues to work with major international events to promote more responsible, inclusive and sustainable winter sports across Europe.
