Sky Race Socorro e Archeira 2026

The protected landscape area of Serra do Socorro and Archeira will hold a Skyrunning event called ‘Sky Race Socorro e Archeira’, on 8 February 2026. This event presents three course distances: 22 Km with 1500 m of vertical climb; 17 Km and +1200 m; 12 Km with +850 m, showing the beautiful colours of this rural region. Starting and finishing near the Associação Cultural Recreativa Desportiva do Furadouro, where the event headquarter is located, you will go to the top of two small mountains. Socorro (395 meters), part of an ancient volcano, is the highest mountains of the region. On top of Serra do Socorro there is a chapel dating back to the 16th century. After the 1755 earthquake, the actual chapel was rebuilt in 1820. Serra da Archeira (344 m) has a fort, which was part of the defensive line built in 1810, during the Napoleonic War.
